Jaanu Dress - Part 3

Note: As this post, as well as the previous two and the next one, are part of the Jaanu Blogtour by Straight Grain, and I'm too lazy I don't have the time to translate everything into 2 languages, I am writing these 4 posts in English only.

Today I'll show you an Elena dress in an old-fashion fabric, called diolen in Dutch. Google Translate says its Diols in English, but I'm not sure...Anyway, it's a grandma kind of fabric that stitches very smoothly (yay!) , there's no need to serge the edges (double yay!) and it doesn't wrinkle so you never have to iron your dress (a million times yay!).

What  better place to show an old-fashion dress then in our beautiful old railway station in Antwerp?!

This Elena version is very simple, I didn't really do or add anything special, except for the sleeves. I made them wider and I pursed them a bit to have a fuller sleeve.

I love the brown and orange flower fabric (yes, still from my stash!) that I probably bought at the thriftstore. Don't remember where I got it.

Combined here with ocher boots and cardigan, but you can easily combine it with other colors for a different look.

The dress can be made very fast. Depends on how many frills you'll add. This plain Jane version took me about 3,5 hours from cutting the fabric until sewing the hem. And I am a very slow seamstress, so anyone else can probably do this in half that time!

Tomorrow I'll show you another Norah!!
